Strong Hearted Buffalo Women CSU (Zongi’de Mushkodebizhike Ikweg)
All nations crisis intervention for young women, aged 12-17.
The CSU is a secure, short term four-bed crisis intervention program for young women of All Nations aged 12-17 years. The CSU works in partnership with Street Reach to provide a safe space for youth who have been identified as being at high risk of sexual exploitation.
This unit offers a safe, nurturing, non-punitive environment for youth that are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or unable to cope in their current placement for any number of reasons. A stay in this unit should last no longer than 5-10 days and should only be for long enough to stabilize the youth. A clinical follow-up facilitator, as well as Street Reach and Social Workers will assist in the discharge process and make the necessary referrals to help the youth with future planning. Examples of crises that can be handled within the CSU are:
- AWOL Tendencies
- Drug/Alcohol Abuse
- Sexual Exploitation
Admissions are based on the youth having been assessed by Street Reach for risk of sexual exploitation.
